PTA Meeting Sept. 29th and Back to School Night

Hello MES families!

We can't believe that it's almost been a full month of school. Time is certainly flying by.

We will hold our annual PTA pizza dinner for all families who have joined the PTA. The dinner will be from 6 to 7 in the diner. If you have not yet joined the PTA, you can sign up at Back to School Night. The cost is just $6 per student.

We will also be holding a brief general membership meeting during this time. We'll introduce the board members for the 2015-2016 school year as well as vote on the budget for the school year and the audit from the 2014-2015 school year. We'll talk a bit about our plans for the year including communication and programs.

Cardinal Camp and Fee Night

Hey there MES families! Cardinal Camp for our kindergarten families is right around the corner. It will be held on Thursday, Sept. 3rd from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Open House for grades 1 - 5 will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm the same day. Bring your supplies and be prepared to pay fees. We will share more on fees soon so you can come prepared. Summer Planning

We apologize for the lack of updates to our blog. Summer has been crazy with vacations, PTA board members starting new jobs, and juggling hours by the pool. Rest assured, we have been busy planning to make this a great year for all our families.

We have reviewed the feedback we got from the surveys and planned ways to incorporate the feedback. We are also getting ready for our annual audit, planned for our programs this year,and had a good meeting about the budget we need for the year. We've met about 4 to 5 times to talk as a group about what we want to do and when we should do it. We will be bringing back some of the most popular programs from last year as well as introducing a couple of new ones. We're posting more on Facebook to keep you engaged. 

Our calendar will be published in advance so you can plan ahead. We've been working closely with Dr. Robinson to ensure we can overlap where it makes sense vs. having multiple events a week. We are using Remind Me to text you or email you reminders about upcoming events. 

Stay tuned for dates for the Ice Cream Social! We'll be looking for volunteers to bring in toppings. You'll hear from us soon on that. It's a great way to get to meet the board members and for us to meet you.

Summer Reading Logs

Just because it is summer, doesn't mean you can stop reading. We wanted to make sure you had your summer reading logs. You should have received a copy in the report cards that were sent home. In case you misplace it, here's links to the different grade levels.

Don't forget to log your reading over the summer. We'll share other ways you can log your reading to get a free book, other free things, and ways you can help support MES get a chance to win some great prizes.

Welcome to the Mechanicsville Elementary School PTA Website

We're under construction now, but we will have our website ready to go in August. Our goal is to build this out over the summer with a lot of useful information for our MES families for the 2015-2016 school year.

We will make sure to include school events, PTA events, information about your board members, fundraising information, budget, etc.

If you have something you would like to see on the website or have a desire to help us build out the site over the summer, please reach out. We'd love the help!
